Gatotkaca Story

Gatotkaca is a character in the epic Mahabharata, known as theson of the family Bimasena or Wrekodara on Pandavas. His mothernamed Hidimbi (Harimbi) comes from the nation rakshasa, so he was told to have extraordinary powers. In a major war in Kurukshetra ally of Kauravas he killed many before they fall in the hands of Karna.


In Indonesia, Gatotkaca become a very popular puppet character. For example, in Javanese puppet he is known by spelling Gatutkaca (Javanese: Gathutkaca). Miracle narrated remarkable, among other things is capable of flying in space without using thewings, and known as the "muscle wire iron bones" like a robot huh?. 

According to the version of the Mahabharata, Gatotkaca  is the son of  Bimasena from the Pandavas who were born from a womannamed Hidimbi rakshasa. Hidimbi raksasi ruler itself is a forestwith his brother named Hidimba.

In Javanese wayang, mother Gatotkaca better known as Arimbi.According to this version, Arimbi not just ordinary forest dwellers,but the princess from the Kingdom Pringgadani, country rakshasanation.

In Sanskrit, Ghatotkacha name literally means "to have a head like a pitcher. "This name consists of two words, namely Ghat (tt) pm, which means "jar" or "jug", and utkacha which means "head". This name was given to him because his head at birth is said toresemble the jar or jug.
